Instructions

    • 1

Take the antique wood outside if possible. If working on the wood piece inside, ventilate the room by opening windows and turning on overhead ceiling fans. Place the antique wood on old newspapers.

    • 2

Pour 1 cup of a paint stripper into a throw-away aluminum container. Wet a 2-inch paintbrush with the stripper. Apply the stripper to the paint stain on the wood. Brush the paint stripper two to three times on the wood, brushing in one direction only. Wait for small bubbles to pop up within the stain.

    • 3

Place a small putty knife at the edge of the paint stain. Gently scrape the loosened paint from the wood. Wipe the paint from the putty knife with an old rag. Continue scraping the paint stain and wiping the putty knife after each stroke, completely removing the stain. Wipe the wood with an old rag to remove any paint residue.

    • 4

Spray a wood conditioner onto the antique wood and wipe clean with a soft cloth.

Tips & Warnings

  • Paint strippers are flammable, so dispose of any rags and the aluminum pan into a fire safe container.
