Homemade Fairy Costumes for Women
Fairies are tiny magical creatures who appear in some form in the folklore of many different cultures. They usually have magical powers and sometimes interfere in humans affairs. They are usually portrayed as delicate and ethereally beautiful young girls dressed in clothing made from the natural world in which they hide. You never know when you'll see one. Look for them in a flowering bush, by a babbling brook or at a costume party, or become one by crafting your own homemade look.

Things You'll Need
- Green leotards and tights
- 12 shear scarves in varying colors of green
- Sash -- green
- 2 artificial vines about 3 feet long
- Needle and thread
- Four wire coat hangers
- Two pair of pantyhose - white
- White glue
- Paint brush
- Glitter
- 1 yard green ribbon, 1-inch wide
- Scissors
- 2 pretty broaches
- 2 safety pins
- Pliers
- Green duct tape

Sew one corner of each scarf around the inside of the sash and wear over the leotard around your waist like a skirt.

Sew one of the vine to the front of the leotard from the left shoulder to the right hip.

Paint vines and leafs up the legs of the tights and the arms of the leotard with white glue. Sprinkle with glitter.

Wear the other vine around your head like a crown.
Wings

Straighten the hooks of the hangers with pliers and shape the hangers into long round wings like a dragonfly.

Tape the two of the hangers together by the straightened hooks with duct tape.

Cover each hanger with a leg from one pair of hose. Twist the stocking around the neck of the hanger and tape it down. Cut off excess stocking.

Tape the other two hangers together by the straightened hooks.

Tape one set of wings to the other set of wings at the hooks. Bend the top wings up and the bottom wings down so they do not overlap.

Paint patterns onto the wings with glue and sprinkle with glitter.

Cut the ribbon in half and tie each piece to the center peice of the wings. Pin ends of ribbons to shoulders of leotard with broaches and to sash with safety pins.
