How to Display Food Picks

Group food picks by color or texture.

Many types of hors d'oeuvres are more visually appealing when they are served with food picks. Food picks are decorative toothpicks used for skewering finger foods. While these picks are functional, they can serve as decorative collectibles as well. If you have colorful, interesting or unusual food picks, you can display them in your kitchen. This type of display adds to the decor of your kitchen and can serve as a conversation piece.

Things You'll Need

• Pin cushions
• Stickpin
• Shelf

Instructions

1. Purchase pin cushions of varying colors, textures and sizes.

2. Group your food picks according to similar characteristics. For instance, you might group by color or by seasonal or holiday themes.

3. Insert similar food picks into the same pin cushion, arranging them in a symmetrical, visually pleasing manner. If the food picks aren't sharp enough to pierce the cushion, you can make a hole with a stick pin first and then insert the food pick.

4. Place the pin cushions on a display shelf in your kitchen.

5. Arrange the pin cushions in a staggered fashion so that some are near the back of the shelf and others are near the front. This creates depth in your display.
