1
Select a fabric that is thin, as this will be ideal for smooth coverage on your tennis shoe and will make for easier placement.
-
2
Take the shoelaces out of the tennis shoes. Stuff the inside of the shoes with old newspaper to fill them out and smooth any wrinkles.
-
-
3
Place the fabric over the whole tennis shoe and the sole. Cut the fabric with scissors to line up evenly with the shoe, including the sole, for both sides of the shoe. Include enough fabric for the front and back of the shoe.
-
4
With a dull knife loosen the seam between the shoe and the sole. This will create a space to tuck the fabric into when covering the shoe.
-
5
Squeeze the leather glue evenly over the entire shoe surface. Spread the glue in the seam between the sole and shoe.
-
6
Put the fabric on one side of the shoe and pull down to flatten evenly. Press the fabric into the glue and smooth with your hand. Trim off any extra fabric with the X-acto knife and tuck the fabric into the seam between the shoe and the sole with the dull knife. Repeat this step for the other side of the shoe.

7
Cover the toe and back heel with remaining fabric and tuck into the seam between the shoe and sole using the dull knife. Cut fabric with the scissors to match the shape and size of the tongue of the shoe and glue it to the tongue. Cut the shoe-lace holes with the X-acto knife. Allow to dry overnight. Insert new shoe laces into the holes after the shoe is completely dry.

8
Repeat steps 2 through 7 for the other shoe.
