How to Scan Pearlized Photos
A "pearlized" photo is created on pearlized paper. This paper gives a photo a glossy and illuminated look, creating a glowing effect of color in the picture. You can scan pearlized photos using a computer scanner and Microsoft's built-in Windows Fax and Scan software. This will create a digital image of your pearlized photo that you can email or upload to the Internet to share with other people.

Turn on the computer scanner and place the pearlized photo face-down on the glass. You should refer to the image on the scanner to see which direction to place your photo, so that it scans right-side up.

Click the "Start" button on your computer and select "Devices and Printers" from the Start menu.

-
3
Double-click "Scan a Document or Picture" icon. This will launch the scanning software.

Click the "Preview" button to scan a sample of your photo. This will help you determine if you need to realign the pearlized photo's position on the scanner before creating an actual scan.
-
5
Click the "Scan" button to scan a digital image of your pearlized photo. A new window will open displaying the location of the new image file on your computer.
