Instructions

    • 1

Select your yarn. Be certain that you have 500 yards of a super bulky, or 6 weight, yarn. If you need more than one skein, check that the dye lots match for color continuity.

    • 2

Choose your crochet hook. Be sure you have the extra large speed hook, or size S-35 crochet hook.

    • 3

Chain 4 to create a foundation.

    • 4

Single crochet in each chain across, beginning with the second chain, creating three single crochet stitches. This is Row 1.

    • 5

Complete Row 2 by chaining 1, then turn your piece and stitch 2 single crochets in the first single crochet. Single crochet to the last single crochet and place two single crochet in the last single crochet. This will leave you with 5 single crochet.

    • 6

Repeat Row 2, ending with a row that has 7 single crochet.

    • 7

Repeat Row 2, ending with a row that has 9 single crochet.

    • 8

Continue working by repeating row 2 until you have 105 single crochet. Each row, if done properly, will increase by 2 single crochet.

    • 9

Edge the piece by working 2 single crochet at the end of each row, along one side edge.

    • 10

Single crochet in the first foundation chain, place 3 single crochet in the second foundation chain and a single crochet in the last foundation chain.

    • 11

Finish edging by placing 2 single crochet at the end of each row, working along the other side edge of the piece.

    • 12

      Fasten off your stitches.

    • 13

Cut your yarn, leaving a 5-inch tail.

    • 14

Thread your yarn needle and weave in the tail, hiding it within the stitches.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use two strands of worsted weight yarn held together and worked as one strand for a different look.
