How to Establish the Rules & Procedures in the Classroom
Establishing rules is vital to the overall functioning of a classroom. It is therefore imperative to go over the rules explicitly. You want to make sure every student understands and can abide by the classroom procedures. If not, your classroom could become disruptive, which is not conducive to optimal learning. However, it is fairly simple to establish the rules. Keep the rules simple and easy to understand, and enjoy a positive classroom environment.

Go over the rules and procedures the first day of class. Sit down and explain each rule. Make sure the students understand. Ask the students for questions and feedback.

Make rules simple. Don't get too complicated in explaining how the rules work. Always make sure the students understand by asking for input.

Make a classroom contract in which rules are outlined. Go over this with the students and have each student sign the contract to abide by the rules.
