Cheap DIY Wedding Stationary
Wedding stationery is the perfect way to set the tone of your wedding. It includes all of the invitations, save the date cards (optional), thank-you notes, place cards, and RSVP cards that you will need for your special day. Buying these items pre-made from a company can seem like the easiest option when planning your wedding. This can often be expensive, though, and the product generic. Making your own stationery not only allows you creative control over the final product, it makes everything more personal. It can also save you a great deal of money.

Decide on all the different stationery items you will need for your wedding. Write these down. Then decide how you want these items to look. What type of paper would you like? What size? What color should it be? What theme do you want to set: formal or informal? Do you want to decorate with ribbons or beads? What font would you like? All of these questions are vital when it comes to sorting out your wedding stationery.

Look on the Internet for ideas about designs. Search around for inspiration and see if there is anything you would like to mimic.

Go to an arts or crafts store and purchase some high-quality paper and cards. Heavy off-white and cream often make the best wedding impression. Buy envelopes, preferably in the same color. Make sure you double check that you have enough of everything to mail to each guest. Sometimes it is possible to find wedding stationery kits that have everything you will need in terms of supplies, but that are blank so that you can create your own designs.

Create a trial of all of your different ideas before committing to one. Choose your favorite. Check and double check that it has all of the information your guests need. Ask your partner if he thinks anything is missing. If you are using a home printer to create your stationery, now is the time to make sure you have enough ink and that everything is printing clearly. Take note of all the different paper and card sizes and note them down so you remember.

Glue the printed invitations to a larger piece of colored card. This will create a border and really set off the writing. Add ribbon or beads across the top. If you are adding ribbon and would like to create a bow, punch two holes in the top of the paper. Thread the ribbon through and then tie in a bow.

Tips & Warnings
You can really add anything you like to the stationery. Beads, ribbons, puff paint, pictures, etc. Make a statement.
When addressing envelopes it is better to hand write them. This gives the guest a more personal feel.
Match the tone of the invitation to the tone of the wedding. If you are having a theme wedding (underwater, skydiving, mountain), by all means, echo that with the invitation.
