Sequins added touches of glitz and sparkle to Tina Turner's wardrobe.

Classic and iconic artist Tina Turner broke into the music mainstream with her hit "A Fool in Love" in 1960. Since then, her singing and her wardrobe have dazzled the public. Turner is known for her sexy and overtly glamorous dresses, which were often short or mini dresses embellished with sequins or fringe. In a recognizable Tina Turner costume, the centerpiece is the dress. The dress needs to be form-fitting, sexy and sparkling, as Turner's costumes typically were.

Instructions

    • 1

Find a sleeveless, form-fitting dress, ideally with spaghetti straps or halter straps.

    • 2

Turn the dress inside out, and try it on. Mark the shortest the dress should be on the material with a fabric marker.

    • 3

Remove the dress, and begin trimming down the material, not exceeding the marks made on the inside. Cut the hem of the dress skirt into jagged points that are longer in the front and back but shorter on the sides for a classic and sexy Tina Turner look. The highest areas of the jagged edge should not go past the line you drew in Step 2.

    • 4

Hem the edges of the jagged points to keep them from fraying.

    • 5

Apply sequins to the dress using fabric glue. The sequins can cover an area of the dress, such as the torso or skirt; create a border on the dress, such as on the hems; create a pattern on the dress or cover the dress entirely.
