Design and print cards or certificates on the internet.

Innovative internet companies provide services for users to design certificates and cards on the web and then to print them using your printer at home. Some companies may charge you to use their site's design interface, while others may charge you only if you decide to print your design. Directions for using these services vary by company. As of early 2011, Avery.com allows users to create and print cards online for free and DyeTub.com also allows users to design and print certificates for free.

Instructions

  1. Designing and Printing Cards

    • 1

Visit www.Avery.com and click "Design & Print Online" in the QuickLinks menu on the left side of the site window.

    • 2

Click the blue "Start Now" button in the center of your screen. A pop-up menu will open prompting you to fill in a registration form to use Avery's services. While you do have to fill in the required information such as name and email address, you can elect not to receive messages from the company by checking the "No, not at this time" radio button. Click "OK." A new window will open showing the Avery design interface.

    • 3

In the "Select Product" column, use your mouse to select the type of item you wish to design. There is an entry specifically for business cards; all other cards will populate under the "Card Products" category and card types will populate in the "Select Product" column. Each product entry is numbered and corresponds to a type of paper product sold by Avery, however you do not have to purchase their products to use the print function.

    • 4

Select the product you wish to use in the "Select Product" column, then click "Next." A new window will open offering cards appropriate for different uses and occasions. You may select a design template or a blank template and then create your own. Make your choice by clicking the product thumbnail and the design interface will open.

    • 5

Customize your card by using the column of tools on the left side of your screen. The interface provides text, pictures and other graphic tools you can use to customize your card. Use your mouse to select the appropriate tool and add elements as you design your card. When completed, click "Next."

    • 6

      Select the "Print Project" button.

    Designing and Printing Certificates

    • 7

Visit www.DyeTub.com and click the "Certificate Maker" link in the first row of the site page.

    • 8

Select the type of certificate you wish to create. DyeTub offers categories: Educational, Traditional, Scout, Family and Themed. Select one and you will see that each category has multiple templates from which to choose. Pick your favorite and the design interface will open in a new window.

    • 9

Use your mouse or touchscreen to drag and drop the design elements anywhere in the certificate you choose. When you select text, the pointer will change to a text cursor, allowing you to customize any text. When you're satisfied with the design, click the gray "Print" tab at the top of the site window.

Tips & Warnings

  • Save your project for future use by printing a PDF copy of your finished card or certificate.

  • Some free services may still require you to download software to use their design programs.

  • Be cautious about downloading programs from, or providing personal information to, unknown vendors.
