How to Wire the Harmon Kardon Play & Drive iPod Car System
One alternative to fiddling with your iPod while driving is the Harman Kardon Drive + Play iPod Interface and Controller. This system allows drivers a clear view of their music selection and controls that help them enjoy their music while driving. The Drive + Play system can be set up in most cars with a few wiring connections.

Plug the iPod end of the included iPod cable into the input on the back of the Harman Kardon Drive + Play's electronics enclosure labeled "iPod." Plug the opposite end of the cable into the input at the base of your iPod.

Plug the power outlet end of the included 12-Volt accessory power cable into a power outlet (cigarette lighter) in the vehicle. Plug the opposite end into the input on the back of the enclosure labeled "Power."

Plug the cable from the text display into the input on the back of the enclosure labeled "Display."

Plug the cable from the control knob into the input on the back of the enclosure labeled "Control."

Plug one end of an 1/8-inch audio cable into the input in the back of the enclosure labeled "Audio Out." Plug the opposite end of the cable into the 1/8-inch "Aux In" jack on the front of the vehicle's stereo. If no "Aux In" jack is available, the signal from the iPod can be heard by dialing in the FM frequency that the enclosure is transmitting with the vehicle's FM radio.
