You can use your digital photos to create an impressive slide show.

You can make a slide-show movie using Windows Movie Maker. This is a free program from Microsoft that installs as part of an update called Windows Live Essentials. You can easily create your own videos from pictures and even home movies. You can use Windows Movie Maker to make a professional-looking slide-show presentation for playback on a computer, for a DVD or for use on the Internet.

Instructions

      Download and install the latest version of Windows Movie Maker (see Resources). You may already have this program on your computer. Go to the next step if you do.

      Click "Start," "All Programs" and "Windows Live Movie Maker" to open the program.

      Click "Add videos and photos" at the top left of the Movie Maker window. Navigate to the location of your pictures.

      Click a photo you want to add to the project and click "Open" to add it. Add each photo that you want to use. Click and drag the photos into the order you want.

      Click "Add music" to use background music in your presentation. Click the "Title," "Action" or "Credits" buttons to add these features.

      Click the "Animations" tab at the top of the window. Click a photo and a transition or "Pan and zoom" option to apply it to that photo.

      Click the "Visual Effects" tab. Click a photo and effect to apply it.

      Click the "Edit" tab. Click a photo and use the "Duration" text box to change the amount of time a picture will be shown (in seconds).

      Click the "Home" tab. Click "Save movie" or change one of the "Share" options to share the movie using an online service. Click the "down" arrow under "Save movie" and choose "Burn a DVD" to burn your slide show to a DVD.
