Remove all bedding from your old mattress set and move the old bed out of the bedroom. If your old bed was a water bed, you need to completely break down the frame and empty the water bed of water before moving it. If your bed had a regular mattress, the mattress and the box spring need to be cleared out of the bedroom.

Place a firm wooden platform base for your bed in the bedroom. The platform must be stable and cannot have a springy or bouncy motion.
