How do I Repair a Broken Windshield Wiper Motor on a 2006 Pontiac Montana?

  1. Replacing the Wiper Motor

    • 1

      Turn the Montana off and raise open the hood. Disconnect the negative terminal-cable of the battery with a socket wrench.

      Raise the wiper arms off the windshield. Remove the plastic cap on the outside of the assembly and use a socket wrench to remove the metal nut revealed by removing the plastic cap.

      Unplug the wiring harness from the motor. Using the socket wrench, remove the two bolts securing the wiper motor. Pull the motor off of the Montana and install a replacement motor. Secure the replacement motor by reinstalling the two bolts.

      Reattach the wiring harness and reinstall the metal nut and plastic cap. Reconnect the battery.

    Replacing the Wiper Motor Fuse

      Open the driver's side door and open the instrument panel fuse-block by pulling off its cover.

      Remove the fuse labeled "WS WPR" and replace it with a new 15A fuse.

      Reattach the cover to the fuse-block and close the door.
