Instructions for a Family Tent
Family camping tents come in a variety of styles and sizes. The dome style tent is common because it has a large open room and the pole design can be adapted to different sizes without changing the tent structure. In addition to the dome tent, there are also cabin style tents that have standing room and can be divided into several different rooms. Family tents are generally larger models that can sleep more than three people.

1
Select a flat tent site that is on high ground. The high ground will prevent moisture from pooling around the floor of the tent. Clear the ground area where the tent will sit to create a comfortable sleeping surface.
-
2
Remove the tent, fly, poles and stakes from the tent bag and use rocks to anchor the loose materials. Set the tent body on the ground and spread out the material. Locate the loops on the base of the tent and use a rock to pound stakes through the loops.

3
Assemble the tent poles by connecting the individual segments. There will be several long poles and several short poles. Locate the sleeves on the tent body that match the poles and slide the poles through the sleeves. Dome style tents will have diagonal sleeves.
-
4
Connect the ends of each pole into the nearest grommets. This will bend the poles and erect the body of the tent. Connect the hooks located on the tent body to the poles to tighten the fabric.
-
5
Place the rain fly on the top of the tent and rotate until the door aligns with the peak. Connect the straps located on the fly to the corners of the tent.

Tips & Warnings
Some family tents come with privacy curtains. Connect the Velcro strip on the curtain to the top of the tent to create separate rooms.
Use multiple people to erect family tents. The tents are large and it is difficult for a single person to complete the setup process.
