How to Hide Caller Identity

Caller ID is a feature that many phones and cell phones have today. It helps people identify who is calling them by showing the caller's name on the phone's display. This helps people screen their phone calls and prevent wasting time answering a call from someone that they don't wish to talk to. If you want to get around caller ID and hide your identity from the other party, several techniques can help you accomplish this task.

Instructions

1. Dial *67 before dialing the number you are attempting to reach (for U.S. residents). If you live in the United Kingdom, dial 141 before dialing the main phone number.

2. Call the operator by dialing 0 and ask him to make the call for you. She will then transfer your call, and the person you are calling will not be able to see who you are.

3. Use a pay phone to make the call. You can also use a pre-paid phone card to help keep your identity a secret.

4. Call and speak to a representative at your local phone company. Ask him to block your identity from caller ID. This will permanently block your identity, and you may incur extra charges on your phone bill for it.
