How to Roast Corn in the Fire
Corn on the cob is one of the most popular items served a summer barbecue. Perhaps you enjoy the taste of corn that's been grilled on that fancy gas grill of yours. However, if you truly want to enjoy the flavors of roasted corn on the cob you've got to try roasting the corn over an open fire. This may be your only option if you are on a camping trip. You could also use a backyard fire pit. Roasting the corn directly on the hot coals helps impart a smoky barbecue flavor to the corn. Does this Spark an idea?

Peel back the husks of the corn and remove the silk. Rinse the husk thoroughly. Replace the husks back over the corn.

Wrap each corn individually in heavy duty aluminum foil.

Place the wrapped ears of corn on coals along the outer edge of the fire, preferably coals that are hot, but have started to turn white. Putting them on coals that are still burning will cause them to burn to quickly and may be difficult to remove without putting out the fire.

Rotate the ears of corn over the coals abot every five minutes. The corn should be ready in about 15 to 20 minutes.

Remove the ears of corn from the fire. Remove them from the foil and peel the ears back. Allow everyone to butter and season their corn as they wish.

Tips & Warnings
For a spicy kick, combine chipotle chiles with butter to make a chipotle butter to spread on the fire-roasted corn.
