How to Reduce a Picture's Size
Pictures downloaded to your computer from a camera or the Internet often are much bigger than expected. You can reduce your picture's size by using your computer's picture editing software. Most images are measured in pixels or inches, depending on the software you are using. Reducing the measurements makes the photo smaller.

1
Open your picture editing program. You can change a picture's size in PhotoShop, Gimp, Microsoft Paint and most other programs that allow you to make changes to the image.
-
2
Click "Image" in the toolbar at the top and select "Size," "Resize" or "Scale."
-
-
3
Enter the inches or pixel number to which you want to reduce the picture. Its current size is displayed horizontally and vertically. Reduce the horizontal and vertical numbers to make the picture smaller. Often, you need to change only one of the numbers and the other will adjust automatically to keep the photo in proportion.
