Not long ago the most advanced components on cars were electronic distributors. Jump forward a few decades and now computers control just about every electrical component on the car. The 2010 Chevrolet Malibu contains several modules, one of which is the Body Control Module or BCM. Knowing what this module controls helps to diagnose electrical issues with the car.

Body Control Module Circuits

The BCM controls or monitors the following circuits: the A/C compressor request, A/C cooling fan, battery rundown protection, bulb check of the instrument cluster, chimes, oil life monitoring, power door locks, horn, instrument cluster, interior and exterior lighting, ignition key sensing, parking brake sensing, anti-theft systems, retained accessory power, rear defogger, remote keyless entry, seat belt sensing and the wiper/washer systems.
