How to Remove Dried Metal Polish
If you were interrupted while hand polishing metal, you may have left the metal polish to dry on the metal. When the polish dries, it will cake and crack a little and may be hard to remove. Prevent the metal polish from drying out by wrapping it in a damp towel if you don't have time to finish polishing the metal immediately. Luckily, dried metal polish will not harm the metal object and can be removed easily. Does this Spark an idea?

Buff off the dried metal polish with a clean cloth. Some metal polish will buff off easily, especially if the layer of dried polish is very thin.

Soak a cloth in clear water if the polish does not buff off.

Wring out as much of the water as possible so that the cloth is just slightly damp.

Wrap the metal object in the cloth.

Let the metal object sit for at least 10 minutes or until the water in the cloth has softened the metal polish.

Remove the wet cloth.

Rub the metal polish into the metal object in circular motions. This will polish the object.

Immediately buff off the metal polish with another clean, dry cloth.
