How to Drill a Perfect Angle Every Time

Align the drill before operating.

The difficulty of drilling a perfect angle depends largely on the surface being drilled. While some surfaces, such as wood, present few problems, drilling a hole through metal can make it far more complicated to obtain a perfect drill hole. Resolve this problem by using a center punch to align the drill before beginning the operation.

Things You'll Need

• Center punch
• Pencil

Instructions

1. Mark the spot you plan on drilling with a light touch from your pencil. This prevents you from accidentally depressing the wrong spot with the center punch.

2. Align the center punch with the marked spot and press down to create a tiny dimple in the surface, preventing the drill from moving during operation.

3. Place the drill bit against the dimple from the center punch and depress the trigger to drill. Move slowly and carefully to further reduce the risk of error.

Tips & Warnings

• Ensure that no one is standing on the other side of the surface you are drilling. Keep your hands and other body parts away from the drill while it is in operation.
