How to Make a Spitter

Spitters are containment devices used commonly for smokeless tobacco users. The tobacco juice or used dip can be spit into the spitter. Most spitters are made from either plastic or aluminum so the contents of the spit cannot be seen and the spitter then can be easily disposed of. A spitter can be made in just a matter of minutes using a can and a can opener.

Things You'll Need

  • Can opener

Instructions

    • 1

Place the can opener under the rim of the can to begin removing the top. Since aluminum pop and beer cans tops are at an angle getting the hang of using the can opener may take a moment. The bottom of the opener should be pressed as close to the bottom of the lid as possible.

    • 2

Work the can opener around the rim of the can. If the can opener gets stuck, reset the can opener and move forward. Go slowly so the can opener make as smooth of top removal as possible. If the edges get too rough and jagged they may cut you while you are trying to spit.

    • 3

Remove the lid of the can once you have gone around the entire edge of the can. Discard the lid. The spitter is now ready to be used.

Tips & Warnings

  • When you are done using the spitter, discard it as soon as possible. Disposing of the spitter will keep it from spilling. Spitters also can smell very bad if left out in the open for a period of time.
