Hook Up LNB on a Dish 500 Dish

The LNB (low-noise block) unit for the Dish Network Dish 500 is an attachment that amplifies the satellite signal. It attaches to the lateral pole at the front end of the satellite antenna and focuses the satellite signal onto the antenna's dish. As of 2011, most LNB units for the Dish 500 are dual or quad units which allow for the use of multiple receivers by capturing more than one satellite signal stream for the Dish 500 antenna.

Instructions

    • 1

Use the Phillips-head screwdriver to loosen the screws on the Dish 500 lateral arm bracket. This will leave an opening slot exposing the connecting ports where the LNB unit will be placed.

Use the Torx screwdriver to loosen the screws on the bottom of the LNB unit. The bottom end of the LNB unit will have metal connector plugs that attach to the lateral arm.

Place the LNB unit onto the lateral arm, plugging the connector plugs on the LNB unit into the connector ports on the lateral arm on the antenna.

    • 4

Tighten the screws on the LNB unit and the lateral arm of the antenna.
