How to Make Your Own Lifesaver Candy Man

How to Make Your Own Lifesaver Candy Man thumbnail
Yarn becomes arms and legs for your Lifesavers candy men.

Making Lifesavers candy men or women is a simple craft that even young children can help create due to the soft yarn and nontoxic craft glue used to assemble them. You can give out Lifesavers candy men on Halloween to trick-or-treaters, include them in goody bags at birthday parties or use them as stocking stuffers. Although candy men aren't required to wear clothing, you can cover the rolls of candy with construction paper and coordinate their "outfits," if desired.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut a piece of cardboard approximately 3 inches wide. It doesn't matter how long the piece of cardboard is as long as it is 3 inches wide.

    • 2

Wrap a long piece of yarn around the cardboard approximately 20 times. Gently slide the wrapped yarn off the end of the cardboard without disturbing the shape, which looks like a loop.

    • 3

Tie a 2-inch piece of yarn around the middle of the yarn loop. You now have a bunch of yarn that looks like a figure eight. These are the arms of your Lifesavers candy man.

    • 4

Repeat Steps 2 and 3 with another piece of yarn to form your candy man's legs.

    • 5

Glue the knot in the center of your yarn arms to one end of a roll of Lifesavers candies with white craft glue.

    • 6

Glue a 1 1/2-inch diameter foam ball on top of the knot in the center of the yarn arms. This is the head of your Lifesavers candy man.

    • 7

Glue the knot in the center of your yarn legs to the bottom end of the roll of Lifesavers.

    • 8

Draw a face onto the candy man's head with markers, or glue googly eyes to it. You can also glue additional yarn to the top of the head to create hair, if desired.
