How to Make Veggie Lotion
Veggie lotions are any lotions that use vegetable and other natural ingredients, without using animal products or byproducts. They can be made with various combinations of ingredients such as oils, extracts, waxes and glycerin. Veggie lotions are also commonly referred to as vegan lotions. Make sure you only use vegetable glycerin when making veggie lotion. Because glycerin can also be made synthetically -- or as a byproduct of using animal fats. Does this Spark an idea?

- Blender
- Spoon
- 16 oz. jar or bottle with lid
- 1-½ oz. sweet almond oil
- ½ oz. cocoa butter
- ½ oz. vegetable glycerin
- 1-½ tbsp. vegan emulsifying wax

Instructions
-
-
1
Mix 1-½ oz. sweet almond oil, ½ oz. cocoa butter, ½ oz. vegetable glycerin and 1-½ tbsp. vegan emulsifying wax in a small microwaveable bowl.
-
2
Place the bowl with the mixture into your microwave and heat for approximately one to two minutes, until melted. Stir the mixture with a spoon to make sure it's blended well.
-
-
3
Pour 8 oz. of room temperature distilled water into your blender.
-
4
Place the lid on your blender, but remove the inner cup.
-
5
Turn your blender on low.
-
6
Pour the melted mixture slowly into the blender. You'll notice that the mixture becomes the texture of a thick cream.
-
7
Add 30 to 50 drops of essential oils. You can use any fragrance of essential oils you like. Use one oil or mix several into the veggie lotion batch. You don't want to blend the mixture too much -- as soon as the oils are mixed in, turn off the blender.
-
8
Pour the mixture into a 16 oz. jar or bottle, and set aside to cool. The lotion will thicken as it cools.
-
9
Close the lid on the jar or bottle when it's completely cooled. It's best to store the lotion in the refrigerator.
