How to Make a Murdered Girl Costume for Halloween

Halloween comes around only once a year, and when it does, you want to celebrate it in horrific style. After all, it's the only time of year when dressing up as a zombie and walking around is deemed normal. For this year, if you really want to impress your friends with your gory sensibilities, create your own creepy costume. Starting with a basic costume idea concerning a murdered girl, you can create a back story to make your costume all the more frightening and original.

Create your basic outfit underneath all the gore by coming up with the kind of girl you want your "character" to be. Decide on her style and her personality, as well as her hobbies to come up with what she should wear. Things like cheerleaders, ballerinas and punk-rockers work well. Find clothing that matches that look.

Think about the reason your character was killed. Come up with little hints and clues you can attach to the costume to allow the people viewing you to know why you were killed. Perhaps your cheerleader character cheated on her boyfriend with the quarterback and he killed her. If that's the case, you can hold a note from the killer stating why he killed you.

Add a few layers of white oil-based makeup to your face and exposed skin to make yourself look dead. Smudge some black makeup under your eyes and on your eyelids. Also smudge some green and purple makeup around your hairline and near your ears. Trace the veins on your arms and neck with the green and purple makeup as well. Tousle your hair to make it look unkempt.

Create the fatal wound or wounds on your character by first deciding how she was killed. If she was shot, create a bullet hole by drawing a hole somewhere visible using black liner or oil-based makeup. If she was stabbed, create the gash from the knife by first creating the basic shape of the knife's entry using a black liner. Then, add some red to the middle of the shape. If you decide to have the gash near the stomach, find some fake intestines at your local costume store and attach them to the middle of the wound using a costume adhesive. You can also find a fake knife whose tip is cut off to add to the wound as well.

Use fake blood to cover the wounds as well as their surrounding areas. Think about where the blood may have trickled down, as well as what your character did after getting wounded. Maybe she touched her wounds with her fingers and covered another area of her body with the blood.
