How to Do a Powerslide in "Mario Kart DS"
"Mario Kart" debuted in 1992 as a racing game featuring the characters from the "Mario" adventure game. A new version of this video game has been developed for every Nintendo system distributed. In "Mario Kart DS," you race go-karts against other players or the CPU. Acceleration and steering is controlled using the "A" button and the directional buttons. A powerslide is used to quickly round corners and get a speed boost at the same time. You must be in the middle of gameplay to do a powerslide.

Press the directional button in the direction you want to perform the powerslide (left or right).

Press and hold the "R" button on the top of the Nintendo DS. This causes your go-kart to perform a small hop.

Press the "Left" and "Right" directional buttons quickly once you land from the hop. Red and blue sparks appear behind your go-kart wheels.

Release the "R" button when the red sparks appear. Your go-kart receives a power boost in the direction you slid.
