1
Go to websites that offer free Halloween-related invitation ideas and templates. Use the templates in your design or browse the examples for more ideas.
-
2
Select an invitation size by adjusting the document setting size in the computer program you want to use.
-
-
3
Choose Gothic-related or Old English fonts, for example, and consider varying the text size for more dramatic appeal. Think about common symbols of Halloween and masquerades and choose fonts and text sizes that suit the theme of your party.
-
4
Choose theme-related wording for your invitation by using olden Halloween terminology and Halloween-related verses that you can find on the Internet. Add your party specifics, such as time, location and RSVP information, to your document. Print this information out on orange paper. Cut the paper into circles to mimic the moon or a pumpkin. Stick the circles to the inside portion of your card.
-
5
Search for clip art that relates to common Halloween symbols such as witches, spiders, black cats, magic, pumpkins and ghouls. You can add the clip art you find directly to your digital document, or print the images out and paste them onto your invitations with glue stick. In addition, create layers with different colors of card stock to add more depth to the front of your cards. Or, find Halloween stickers that you can adhere to your invitations.
-
6
Add other accessories to your invitations for a homemade look. For example, use orange, black and yellow ribbons to adorn your invitations. Fasten ribbon across the top or bottom part of your card in an uneven, squiggly fashion with glue stick.
-
7
Make more accessories, such as a witch's broom, with a paint brush. Simply cut some of the bristles off of a paint brush and tie twine around the bunch of bristles you cut. Affix the "broom" to your card with glue stick. Cut a rectangular strip out of a piece of brown construction paper and glue this down as the broomstick portion of your broom.
-
8
Choose envelopes that match the accent colors you chose or the paper stock you originally used for your invitations.
