Dashboard Removal on an Alfa Romeo Milano
Over time, the dashboard in your Alfa Romeo Milano can become cracked and worn, compromising its durability and functionality. If your Milano is exposed to the sun a lot, this can cause the material in the dashboard to expand, crack and break. When that happens, it's time to remove and replace the dash. Removing the Alfa's dash is a bit tricky, but it's a job that you can tackle yourself using a few basic tools.

Open up the hood of your Alfa Romeo and locate the battery. Use a wrench to remove the negative cable from the battery. Carefully lift the negative cable away from the battery terminal.

Remove the screws holding the glove compartment to the dashboard, using a Phillips screwdriver. Lift the compartment away from the dashboard. Remove the rest of the mounting screws attached to the lower section of the dashboard. Carefully lift the lower dashboard section out of the vehicle. Take care not to damage any of the other components as you do so.

Remove the mounting screws securing the radio and its bracket to the dashboard. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the back of the radio and remove it from the vehicle. Remove the rubber bezel from around the instrument panel. Remove the three mounting screws attaching the instrument panel to the dash. Remove the electrical wiring from the rear of the panel and lift it out of your Alfa Romeo.

Remove the rest of the screws attached to the upper section of the dashboard. Note which screws are used for which dashboard piece, and keep them in a safe place as you will need to reuse some of them.

Remove each section of the upper dashboard, being careful as you do so. Keep the screws for the instrument panel and the radio assembly in a safe place, as you will need to reuse them when you install a new dash.
