How to Create Class Reunion Keepsake Scrolls

A class reunion is an exciting event that gives you the chance to catch up with old friends and see people you haven't seen in years. Traditionally, the reunion planners give out a small keepsake that guests take home as a reminder of the event. For your next reunion, make a keepsake scroll that reminds your classmates of how far they've come in life. Once you deliberately age the paper and make it look older, it becomes a one-of-a-kind keepsake for everyone who attends.

Instructions

    • 1

Place tea bags in a glass bowl and pour boiling water over the top. Let the tea bags steep for at least 10 minutes, tinting the water a deep brown. Add more tea bags as necessary to create the exact shade you want.

    • 2

Dip the sheets of white paper in the tea mixture. The longer you keep the papers in the tea mixture, the darker the shade will be. Remove the sheets from the liquid and set on a flat surface to dry.

    • 3

Write information and details on each sheet of paper. Include information such as the name of your school, the date of the reunion, the location of the event and any other pertinent details.

    • 4

Set a lighter to its lowest setting and hold it close to the paper's edges. This turns the edges a darker shade of brown. If you prefer, use the lighter to gently burn the edges to give the scroll a different look.

    • 5

Wrap the paper's top edge around a wooden dowel. Place dabs of super glue on the dowel to keep the paper in place. After the glue dries, roll the scroll around the dowel and tie it closed with a small piece of ribbon.

Tips & Warnings

  • For a more traditional scroll look, use a wooden dowel on both ends of the paper. Roll the dowels toward each other until they meet in the center and then tie with the ribbon.
