How to Copy Information from a Floppy Disk to a CD
It is important to copy information from your floppy disks to CDs if you wish to keep it because floppy-disk drives are no longer installed in new computers. Just as DVDs have replaced VHS tapes, CDs have replaced floppy disks. Fortunately, copying information from a floppy disk to a CD is a simple process, as long as you have both a floppy drive and a CD burner installed on your computer.

Insert a floppy disk into your floppy-disk drive.

Open a "Finder" window.

Open the floppy-disk drive that appears in the "Finder" window.

Highlight all of the data on your floppy disk and copy it by clicking "Edit" and selecting "Copy."

Click "File" and select "Create New Burn Folder."

Name the burn folder after the floppy disk you wish to copy to a CD.

Click inside this new folder and paste the data that you copied from the floppy disk into it by clicking "Edit" and then selecting "Paste."

Click "Burn" inside this folder.

Insert a blank CD-R into your CD burner and the information from your floppy disk will be copied onto a CD.

Eject the CD from your computer after the burning process has completed.

Insert a floppy disk into your floppy-disk drive.

Click the "Start" button and select "Computer."

Double-click the floppy-disk drive that appears in the "Computer" window.

Highlight all of the data on your floppy disk and copy it by right-clicking on a highlighted item and then selecting "Copy."

Insert a blank CD-R into your CD burner.

Choose "Burn Files to Data Disc" in the blank-CD menu that opens.

Name the CD after the floppy disk that you wish to copy.

Select the "Mastered" formatting option and click "Next."

Paste the data that you copied from the floppy disk into the folder that appears by right-clicking in the folder and then selecting "Paste."

Click "Burn to Disc" inside this folder; the information from your floppy disk will be copied onto the CD.

Eject the CD from your computer after the burning process has completed.
