How to Empty Grand Soul Gems
In the game "Oblivion," available for the Xbox 360, PC and PlayStation 3, Soul Gems are used to power up enchanted weapons once the power of these weapons has run out. Soul Gems have various sizes and power levels, and if your gem is not empty, you can use it to recharge any enchanted item. If you're looking to cure vampirism and need five empty Grand Soul Gems, you need to find or buy these empty. You cannot use Grand Soul Gems that already have a soul level for this quest because once you empty a soul gem, the gem disappears.

View your inventory.

Scroll down to your Grand Soul Gem, and select it. If you do not have a Grand Soul Gem to select, you can buy them from some members of the Mages Guild and from some alchemy and magic stores located in cities. You can also find Grand Soul Gems in some caves.

Scroll through the new menu, and select the enchanted item you would like to charge. This will cause your item to become recharged and your Grand Soul Gem to disappear.

Equip your weapon by selecting it in your inventory, and use the enchanted aspect of your item.

Tips & Warnings
If you need five empty Grand Soul Gems for the Vampire Cure quest, you can buy one from each merchant in the Mages Guild, except for Skingrad. There is also one in Melisande's basement, one in a display case in the Arcane University and one in a display case in Chorrol's Mages Guild. They also appear in the caves: Crayfish Cave, Nornal and Squandered Mine.
