Keeping water away from your house is the easiest way to extend its life. Basement foundations are not designed like the hull of a boat. Any water that is trapped next to it will make its way into your home. Modern homes use a corrugated drainage pipe embedded in gravel around the footings of the foundation to move this water away quickly. Installing and attaching the corrugated pipe is the simplest part of the process.
Step 1
Cut corrugated drain pipe with the utility knife to the desired length.

Step 2
Push the pipe snap coupler inside the corrugated pipe. There are little teeth on the coupler which will grab and hold the corrugated edges. Repeat this step for the other side of the pipe.
Step 3
Tie the one side of the pipe sock to the newly attached side's sock in a knot. Your pipe may not have this protection. The sock is in place to keep fine dirt from making it into the pipe and possibly clogging it.
