How to Make Simple String Bracelets
Friendship bracelets, or string bracelets, have long been associated with campfires, sleepovers and other fun social events. You can make a simple string bracelet for yourself or give it away to a friend or relative once you've finished. String bracelets are a great craft at almost any age, especially the simple patterns that can be easily mastered.

Braided String

Select three pieces of string to use and tie a knot at the top. Tape the string on top of the knot to a table or other flat surface to keep it from slipping during your braiding process.

Place the string to your left (string one) over the middle string (string two), followed by the right string (string three) over string one.

Repeat this pattern by alternating moving the outside strings over the middle string.

Finish the bracelet with a knot and cut off any excess.

Tie the string on your own wrist or a friend's wrist.
Four String Bracelet

Pick four strings to use and tie a knot at the top. If you wish, place the strings on a table with a piece of tape over the knot.

Take the far left string (string one) and thread it over the middle strings (strings two and three) and underneath the far right string (string four).

Move string four underneath the middle two strings and over string one.

Thread string one over the middle strings and under string four.

Take thread four and move it underneath the middle strings and over string one. Tighten the strings and repeat the process until you get to the end. Cut off any excess and tie the bracelet on your wrist or a friend's wrist. You can opt to tie the knot before you put it around your wrist if you wish, or you can simply tie it to your wrist without the knot.

Children should not use scissors unless supervised by an adult.
