Begin painting. Dip a paintbrush into a paint can. Wipe it along the side of the can to remove any excess paint. With a steady hand, paint around the baseboards, ceiling and windows of the room. Use the paintbrush to paint the corners of the room, as well as any other small spaces that will be difficult for a paint roller to reach.

5
Roll the walls. Pour a shallow layer of paint into the deep end of a paint pan. Roll the roller into the paint. Roll it on the shallow side of the paint pan to remove excess paint. Roll the walls, using even, up-and-down strokes.
