Instructions

    • 1

Prepare the pretzel dough. Mix the water and yeast in a small bowl. Melt the stick of butter in a pot on the stove. Add salt, honey, and milk to the melted butter. Heat this combination until near boiling. Pour the heated mixture into the yeast bowl and stir. Add in flour, stirring occasionally, until well blended. Knead the dough in the bowl for 10 minutes then cover the bowl and let set to rise for two hours. Knead risen dough again to remove the air.

    • 2

Pull off a large ball of dough about the size of your palm. Roll the dough between your hand until it forms a long rope, like a snake. Fold one end of the rope up and cross it over the other end so that the two ends form a V above a looped section below.

    • 3

Pick up the dough at the intersection of the two ends. Turn that section gently to form an extra twist where the V was. Fold the ends down so that they touch the bottom of the looped section and form a classic pretzel shape.

    • 4

Put the pretzels on a cookie sheet and cook at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes, or until lightly browned.
