How to Dry Herbs for Resale Online

How to Dry Herbs for Resale Online thumbnail
Grow your own herbs to sell at a farmer's market or on-line.

If you enjoy growing your own fresh herbs, you may sometimes have an excess of herbs after you have used the quantity you need for your recipes. Instead of tossing these herbs away, sell them on-line as a side business that enables you to get rid of the herbs while making a little money at the same time. In order to sell the herbs efficiently, it is helpful to dry them first.

Instructions

    • 1

Wash fresh rosemary, thyme and basil well, then lay the herbs out on a kitchen towel to dry.

    • 2

Trim the herbal leaves off the stems using kitchen shears.

    • 3

Lay the leaves in a single layer onto the trays of a food dehydrator.

    • 4

Turn on the dehydrator, and allow the leaves to dry for 6 hours.

    • 5

Place the dried herb leaves into glass jars, separating the individual types of herbs into their own jars.

    • 6

Screw the lids onto the jars.

    • 7

Tie a piece of raffia into a bow around each jar. This adds beauty to the jars and makes them look more rustic.

    • 8

Place an adhesive label onto each jar.

    • 9

Write the information about each herb onto the labels using a paint pen. Allow the paint to dry completely.
