Instructions

    • 1

Take the Wahl pet clippers out of the storage case and make sure that the blades are clean and tight before beginning to shave the animal. A small drop of lubricating oil should be applied to both sides of the clipper blades before the clipping process is started. Turn the clippers on and allow the blades to run for a moment and lubricate adequately.

    • 2

Make sure that the blades are lubricated because it will help the clippers to run smoothly, stay cooler and create less friction between the two blades. The Wahl Animal Store website explains that Wahl Blade Ice should be purchased and used throughout the clipping process in order to keep the blades from getting too hot. Check the blades periodically because if they get too hot, it will be uncomfortable for the animal that is being shaved.

    • 3

Turn the clippers off and unplug them from the electrical outlet before beginning the cleaning process. Use a screwdriver in order to remove the clipper blades. A dry and soft cloth should be used to wipe all of the hair and dust off of the clipper blades.

    • 4

Use the cleaning brushes to remove the excess hair from the inside of the clippers. Realign both of the clipper blades and screw them securely back into place. Put a few drops of clipper grease at the ends of the Wahl clippers and allow them to run for a moment in order to further lubricate and protect the blades.

    • 5

Store the clippers in a dry and safe location. It is important to check the blades periodically to ensure that they are still sharp and free of any rust. If the blades become dull, businesses that sharpen clipper blades can be located online.

Tips & Warnings

  • Depending on the size of the pet and the thickness of the hair that is being clipped, it is advisable to always have multiple pairs of clipper blades on hand in case one set becomes too dull to use.

  • Always unplug the clippers before they are cleaned. Never use Wahl clippers around a water source or on an animal that is wet or sweaty.
