How to Make an Electric Bass Sound Like an Acoustic

How to Make an Electric Bass Sound Like an Acoustic thumbnail
Acoustics are harder to play on an electric guitar.

Electric guitars are known for having a distinct, loud, and heavier sound than acoustic guitars. While acoustic guitars are more mellow-sounding and a lot softer than electrics, they also deliver a completely different sound. You can turn the sounds, and volumes of an electric guitar to an acoustic easily. It may take some practice, but you will be playing an acoustic-electric in no time.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Lay your electric guitar down on a flat surface.

    • 2

Change out your old strings with the heavier-gauged strings.

    • 3

Connect your guitar to your amplifier with a one-foot-long audio cable.

    • 4

Adjust your amplifier and guitar settings. Turn all knobs up on the amplifier, and once you hear a drop in treble, turn them back down.

    • 5

Turn the volume knob on the guitar down. It should be kept somewhat low.

    • 6

Adjust the low-mid range volume on your amplifier slightly.

    • 7

Turn the high-mid setting down lower, but not as much as your low-mid range.

    • 8

      Set up your effects pedals.

    • 9

Install your mimicking pickups on your guitar. These will allow you to pick up certain frequencies.

    • 10

Practice switching back and forth from your acoustic neck pickups and the electric bridge pickups. Your selector switch will allow you to do this.

Tips & Warnings

  • Never actually put acoustic strings on an electric guitar.
