How to Thread an Adler 205 Sewing Machine
Your Adler 205 is a well-built machine which will likely last a long time if cared for properly. The installed cylinder arm is capable of performing heavy-duty tasks, such as stitching designs into shoes. In order to use your Adler, you will need to thread it. Threading your Adler is easy and takes only a few minutes to complete.
Instructions

1
Secure your thread reel on the reel holder. The reel holder looks like a bar and is located near the top of your machine.
-
2
Feed the loose end of your thread through the thread guide located on the right side of your reel holder. The thread guide is a tiny slot which helps direct the flow of the thread and keeps it from getting tangled.
-
-
3
Wrap the thread in a clockwise fashion between the two washers on your main tension knob. The main tension knob is a circular shape located very close to your Adler's thread guide.
-
4
Guide the thread to the needle pretension knob and wrap it counterclockwise 1 and 1/2 times around the pretension knob's washers. The needle pretension knob is located at the end of the cylinder arm, right next to the needle.
-
5
Pull the thread under the thread take-up spring. This is a tiny metal loop located behind and slightly above the needle pretension knob.
-
6
Pass the thread through the hole in the thread lever. The thread lever is the small piece that moves the needle when you sew.
-
7
Feed the needle through the upper thread guard located directly above the needle.
-
8
Pull the thread through the lower thread guard located directly beside the needle.
-
9
Guide the thread through the hook on the needle. Pull any remaining slack through so that you have a taunt line of thread running from the reel holder through the needle hook.
-
10
Cut off any excess thread with your scissors. Leave a at least two inches sticking through the needle hook.

Tips & Warnings
Pull extra thread through the thread guide before wrapping it around the main tension knob. The added slack will make it easier to pull the thread through each component.
Always verify your machine is deactivated and unplugged before threading it.
