You must know the height, width and depth of a refrigerator to find its volume in cubic inches.

Although the size of a refrigerator often is explained in cubic feet, finding the size of a refrigerator in cubic inches is perhaps easier because you do not need to transfer the measured inches into feet. Remember that cubic inches does not describe the length of the refrigerator; they represents the refrigerator's volume. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Use the tape measure to measure the height if the refrigerator, from the bottom to the top. Write down the number of inches tall the refrigerator measures. For this example, assume the refrigerator is 72 inches tall.

    • 2

Measure the width of the refrigerator, from left to right. Write down this number in inches. Assume in this example the refrigerator is 36 inches wide.

    • 3

Measure the depth of the refrigerator, from the front of the refrigerator to the back. Assume for this example the refrigerator is 36 inches deep.

    • 4

Multiply the height, width and depth by one another to get your answer. For example, 72x40x36 = 93,312. This means the refrigerator in the example is 93,312 cubic inches.
