Making Centerpieces From Hurricane Lamps
Hurricane lamps offer flexibility and elegance when you want to make a centerpiece for any occasion, including a wedding reception, holiday party or sports team banquet. The curved glass container of the hurricane lamp holds a candle, and the flickering light of the candle casts a warm glow on the decorations around the hurricane lamp. For a fresh, natural centerpiece, surround the hurricane lamp with a wreath made from greenery and flowers of your choice.

- Fresh greenery

Soak a floral foam ring in water overnight. The foam ring should be large enough for the hurricane lamp to fit in the center of the ring.

Snip the greenery apart so the pieces are no more than 6 inches long. Pieces can be as small as just 2 inches long.

Arrange the greenery in the floral ring to create a backdrop for the flowers. Greenery can point out in any direction, but should be approximately balanced all the way around the ring.

Cut the flower stems so they are no more than 4 inches long.

Place the largest flowers in the floral ring, distributing them around all sides so the centerpiece is balanced.

Place the remaining flowers in the floral ring. Balance the colors and density of flowers as you work around the ring.

Set the hurricane lamp with a pillar candle in the center of the floral ring. Choose a candle in a color that matches the flowers you used.

Tips & Warnings
Assemble your centerpieces no sooner than the day before the event so the flowers are fresh. If you would prefer to assemble centerpieces further ahead of time, use silk flowers instead.
