How to Load a Viewsat 9000HD Receiver Via Serial

FTA receivers let you pick up free television channels.

The Viewsat 9000HD is a high-definition FTA receiver. FTA stands for "free-to-air," meaning it can pick up free channels that cable providers overlook. These often include foreign language and niche channels. Loading the available channels on the 9000HD is done through the "Serial Settings" menu. All you need to do is properly initialize it and then begin the loading process.

Instructions

1. Turn on the Viewsat and press "Menu" on the remote control.

2. Select "Installation" from the resulting Viewsat menu and then select "Serial Settings."

3. Select "Network Settings" from the resulting Viewsat Serial Settings menu and then select "Network Setup."

4. Select "DCHP" and press the Back button on your remote to return to the Viewsat Network Setup page.

5. Select "Network S/W Upgrade."

6. Select "Start Upgrade." This will begin the process of the receiver finding channels. It might take a couple minutes. Click "Exit."
