How to Remove the Password From a Thinkpad T20

A hard disk password can be removed easily from an IBM Thinkpad T20 laptop, depending on the type of password you would like to change. There are two types of passwords built into an IBM Thinkpad T20: a supervisor password and a master hard drive password. A supervisor password is set at the IBM factory during the laptop manufacturing time and cannot be changed or removed. A master hard drive password can be changed or removed as needed.

      Press and hold "F1" key on your IBM Thinkpad T20 laptop as you start it.

      Type the supervisor password when you are prompted for it.

      Choose "Password" using the arrow keys on your keyboard on the IBM BIOS Setup Utility menu that opens.

      Select "Hard-disk x password," where "x" is hard disk drive letter, and then select "Master HDP."

      Type the currently set master hard drive password, leave the "New Password" field blank and press "Enter" twice.

      Press the "F10" key to save the changes you made.

      Choose "Yes" on the dialog box that opens to confirm that you want to save the changes.
