How to Run iPhone Software on Windows Mobile 6.1

So you've decided not to purchase an iPhone (and accompanying AT&T service plan). Your Windows Mobile-based phone gets the job done and you're very familiar with how everything works and where everything is. Still, wouldn't it be nice to have the sleek look and feel that's helped make iPhones so popular? Now you can.

Using a visual emulator allows you to get the look and feel of an iPhone on a Windows Mobile 6-based phone. The emulator, which allows your native mobile Operating System to mimic that of an iPhone, also gives you the "slide to unlock" feature to unlock your touch screen with a snap.

    • 1

Download the visual emulator to your computer. The program downloads as a compressed ZIP file. After it has finished downloading, double-click the ZIP file to unpack its contents.

    • 2

Connect your Windows Mobile-based phone to your computer using the USB cable that was purchased with the device, or one that is compatible.

    • 3

Transfer the visual emulator files onto your mobile phone. Copy the entire folder, and then paste it into any folder on your Windows Mobile-based device.

    • 4

Run the program "launcher.exe" on your mobile phone. It is located in the emulator subfolder labeled "Launcher and Unlocker." After you run launcher.exe, it will take a few moments to convert your Windows Mobile-based phone to look and behave like an iPhone interface.

    • 5

Lock your phone by tapping the time at the top of the screen on your new interface. The screen is unlocked by dragging the onscreen button toward the right.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can customize the visual emulator's icons to activate any program on your Windows Mobile-based device by editing the file "config.ini".

  • Modifying the "config.ini" file in your visual emulator can disable your iPhone icons if not done correctly. Attempt this only if you have a firm understanding of Windows Mobile file paths.
