The ViewSat Ultra satellite receiver is an FTA device that does not require a service contract or monthly payment to receive the television signal. However, you do need to keep the programming on the receiver up-to-date. This is done via a free download and with the help of a USB data cable. Although the data cable is not provided with the satellite receiver purchase, the equipment is available at any local computer or electronics store.

Instructions

1. Navigate to the website where you purchased the ViewSat Ultra receiver.

2. Select the "Support" option, then choose "ViewSat Ultra" as the satellite receiver. Choose the download link next to the receiver's support information for the ViewSat programming file to download.

3. Right-click the downloaded file, then choose "Extract." The file is zipped when you download it, so you must first extract the file information. After right-clicking the file, the extraction application loads onto the screen. Follow the prompts for extracting the files from the zipped format.

4. Plug the USB data cable into the USB port on the back side of the ViewSat Ultra receiver, then insert the opposite end of the cable into a USB port on the computer system.

5. Click "Start," "Computer" then double-click the satellite receiver icon. This loads a window representing the ViewSat Ultra equipment. Click-and-drag the extracted files into the open window to upload the programming to your receiver for free.
