How to Pick Flower Petals
Perhaps the most notable part of any flower is the petals. Often brightly colored, a main function of flower petals is to attract bees to assist in fertilization. While beautiful in their natural state, flower petals also have many uses in the home, ranging from an additive for homemade beauty products to basic interior decoration. When needed for a craft, flower petals can be picked directly off a flower. Does this Spark an idea?

Grasp the flower stem with one hand. Wear a leather glove for protection if the stem has thorns.

Grab the base of a flower petal with your forefinger and thumb. Pull on the petal until it breaks free from the flower. For most flowers, it's easier to start with petals on the outside and work toward the center of the flower bloom.

Drop the petal in a container, such as a bowl or paper bag.

Repeat the process until you gather the desired number of flower petals.

Tips & Warnings
Do not pull on the tip of a flower petal as it may cause it to rip.
