How to Encrypt a Text Doc

File encryption helps protect your secure information from prying eyes. Encryption creates cipher text out of your regular text file. This makes it nearly impossible to read the file without the encryption key or password. Encrypting text files will keep any sensitive information from falling into the wrong hands. In order to open the encrypted file you will need the encryption key or a password.

Instructions

    • 1

Right click on the text document you want to encrypt. Select "Properties."

    • 2

      Click the "Advanced" button.

    • 3

Check "Encrypt contents to secure data." Click "OK."
