How to Get Rid of a Sticky Substance Coming Out of Treated Wood
Treated wood has the tendency to seep sap from the knots, which can surround wood around the knots. The sap substance is difficult to remove with just a cloth and water due to its sticky nature. A solvent and paint thinner such as turpentine may be used to remove the sticky substance from the treated wood. Turpentine can be found at most hardware stores. Apply turpentine to a clean cloth.

Place the moistened cloth on the sticky substance.

Rub away the substance using a circular motion. Apply more turpentine around the knot.

Reapply turpentine to the cloth and continue to rub the substance until it is completely removed. Use a new cloth if the current one becomes saturated with the sticky substance.
