How to Get to Stark Mountain on "Pokemon Pearl"

Stark Mountain in "Pokemon Pearl" is the location of the legendary Pokemon Heatran. This fire/steel-type Pokemon appears at Level 70 inside the mountain after you locate the Magma Stone. Stark Mountain, located northeast of the Survival Area, becomes available after you receive the National Pokedex at the end of the main game. You need two Hidden Machine (HM) moves, as well as the bicycle, to get to Stark Mountain. Inside, you need HM Strength and HM Rock Smash to move around. Other rare Pokemon you may meet in the area include Numel, Rhyhorn and Skarmory.

Instructions

    • 1

Travel to the Survival Area on Route 225.

    • 2

Walk east from the Survival Area until you reach a mountain wall.

    • 3

Use HM Rock Climb to scale the side of the mountain where you see the footprints. Continue using Rock Climb to move up and down the face of the mountain as you continually move eastward. Stop when you reach the water.

    • 4

Use HM Surf to move east across the water. Cross an island in the middle and continue east until you hit the shore.

    • 5

Turn north to Route 227 until you come to another mountain wall. Use the bicycle and dirt ramps to jump obstacles as you move west, then north again, up a set of stairs.

    • 6

Use the bicycle again to cross the narrow wooden bridge on the plateau at the top of the stairs and keep moving north.

    • 7

Follow the mountain path as it snakes to the east and south before turning back north to two more sets of stairs.

    • 8

Climb the stairs to arrive at Stark Mountain.
